As the lucky Buddha of Tuesday, this motif shows Buddha in a reclining posture, peacefully resting and surrounded by softly flowing forms. His body rests sideways within the round coin relief, while the robe, leaves and organic lines create a quiet, almost floating atmosphere. The posture feels peaceful and released, but not sleeping. It speaks of a consciousness that has fully come to rest.

Pang Sai Yat (ปางไสยาสน์) can be understood as realizing Nirvana. The Tuesday Buddha lies on his right side, a posture associated in Thailand with calm, distance and inner serenity. A traditional story tells of Asura Rahu, a proud spirit being who refused to show respect to anyone. Buddha did not meet him with conflict or loud power, but with complete calm.
